NOTE for Professional Engineers: PEs Attending Tour & Meeting can receive a certificate for 1 PDH if requested. The Newport Borough Municipal Authority Snapshot The Newport Botrough Municipal Authority (NBMA) owns and operates a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) that serves Newport Borough and portions of Howe and Oliver Townships in Perry County, Pennsylvania. The WWTP was constructed in 1959 and was upgraded in 1973, and then upgraded again in 2020. A new WWTP began operation in January of 2020 which consists of a dual train Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR), automatic bar screen, vortex grit removal system, ultraviolet (UV) disinfection, and aerobic digestors. The SBR system is designed for secondary treatment with advanced nutrient removal. Sludge is liquid-hauled off site for disposal from the aerobic digestors. Vendor tables are available.
